Alicia Keys Covers Drake, Juice Wrld at 2019 Grammys – XXL

Alicia Keys served as the host of the 2019 Grammy Awards, but she also hit the stage to deliver a performance of her own and paid homage to Drake, Juice Wrld and more. On Sunday (Feb. 10), the Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter hit the stage with not just one but two pianos and played both of them with one hand each.

Midway into her set, she focused on one piano and segued into her medley of top-charting hits. First, Keys paid homage to Lauryn Hill by performing two of her classic records “Killing Me Softly” and “Doo-Wop (That Thing).” She also performed today’s latest rap hits like Drake’s “In My Feelings” and Juice Wrld’s “Lucid Dreams.” She closed out with her chorus on Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind.”

Alicia Keys has a history of saluting young artists. At the beginning of 2019, Keys shared a video on Twitter of her and her son Egypt playing a rendition of the late XXXTentacion’s song “What Are You So Afraid Of” off his posthumous Skins album. She even co-signed the fallen rapper’s music in the comment section.

“Such a vibe!!” she wrote. “Big love to the talented @xxxtentacion !! Gone too soon.”

Although she meant well, her fans didn’t like the idea of the singer vouching for the troubled rapper. The backlash was so bad that she ended up deleting the post.
