Jermaine Dupri Inducted Into Songwriters Hall of Fame – XXL

This year’s event took place at the Marquis Hotel in New York City and included two of Dupri’s closest collaborators. On hand to support the Atlanta rapper were Mariah Carey and Usher, who posed for a photo with Dupri while he was holding his trophy.

“It all started with a hit song,” Dupri wrote on Instagram. Carey posted the same photo on Twitter, congratulating JD and listing some of the songs they worked on together such as “We Belong Together,” “Honey” and “Always Be My Baby.”

The night also included a performance from Dupri, as well as speech from Usher who inducted JD into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Earlier this year, Dupri shared his excitement when he learned he would be inducted, writing on Instagram, “I can’t fucking believe it!!! This what all the long nights and early mornings is all about.”

Along with hits penned for Carey, some of Dupri’s biggest hits include songs performed by Usher like “U Got It Bad,” “You Make Me Wanna…,” “Nice & Slow,” “My Way,” “Burn” and “Confessions Part II.”
