According to a report from ESPN, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations, Kiki Vandeweghe, spoke to the Raptors president Masai Ujiri about “the use of bad language.” While details of the warning are unknown, USA Today reports the team also spoke to Drake about the matter.
Perkins is looking to move on from the issue and said his purpose is to help his teammates, but also took a shot at the rapper. “I’m here to represent the Cleveland Cavaliers,” he said. “At the end of the day, it isn’t about Perk versus Drake; that doesn’t even sound right. It’s the Cleveland Cavaliers versus the Toronto Raptors. Besides, what could he possibly do to me? I mean, really. If he leaves me alone, I’ll leave him alone, and that’s all there is.”
The feud between Drake and Perkins began during halftime of Tuesday night’s game, as players from both teams were making their way to the tunnel. The argument continued after the game was over and the Toronto rapper could be seen being held back by NBA player Jose Calderon.
Following the game, Perkins said the halftime argument started when he was joking with his former teammate, Serge Ibaka, and Drizzy butted in. “I was talking to my old teammate Serge walking into halftime telling him ‘We about to win this game,’ and Drake butted in talking shit to me,” he told ESPN. “So I said something back to him.”
As for their postgame fight, journalist Bruce Arthur says he heard the Drake call Perkins a “fucking pussy” and called for him to come out of the tunnel. “I’m here in real life,” the “Nice for What” rapper allegedly said. “He was mad,” Arthur added.
