Post Malone’s ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys’ Album Breaks Spotify Record – XXL

And just like that, J. Cole’s ownership of Spotify’s first-day streaming record has been transferred to Post Malone.

Spotify has reported Posty’s new LP Beerbongs & Bentleys set new marks both globally, with 78,744,748 streams, and in the U.S., with 47,930,039 streams.

This eclipses the mark previously held by J. Cole’s KOD album. That project earned 36.7 million streams in the U.S in the 24-hour period following its release.

The numbers probably shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the album went platinum upon its release thanks to being spearheaded by top three Billboard hits “Rockstar” featuring 21 Savage and “Psycho” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. The album, which also features guest appearances from YG, G-Eazy, Swae Lee and Nicki Minaj, is surely on pace to land atop the Billboard 200 next week.

Post kicked off his North American tour in support of the album with 21 Savage and SOB x RBE on Thursday (April 26). The 28-city jaunt will find the artists performing in cities like Denver, Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas and more, before closing out in San Francisco, Calif. on June 24.

Post’s big year is just getting started. He’s up for 11 awards at the upcoming 2018 Billboard Awards. Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with 14 nominations.

2018 is shaping up to be a big year in rap album releases, with upcoming projects from Drake, Kanye West, Kid Cudi and Kanye West, Pusha T, Tee Grizzley and more slated to drop in the coming months.
