DMX Receives Offers for Movie and Book Deals in Prison – XXL

DMX will have to spend roughly the next year behind bars, but at least there’s a silver lining. That being, publishers and film producers know a good redemption story when they see one.

As previously reported, in March, Earl was sentenced to serve one year in prison after being convicted of tax evasion. The time away from the limelight, and away from substances he struggles with, is reportedly yielding new music from the Yonkers, N.Y. spitta as well as some offers from book and film companies.

According to The Blast, X’s attorney Murray Richman tells them the rapper, who is being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York and awaiting transfer to FCI Danbury, has been keeping busy. Richman says the rapper “looks great, is very happy, and overall, is doing remarkably well.” He also reveals he has been penning a lot of rhymes, and a number of companies have reached out about doing an autobiographical project on Earl’s life.

In related news, Dark Man X still has a rough road ahead financially when he gets out. He’s been ordered to pay $2.3 million in restitution. Luckily, he does not have to pay the amount outright. The judge will allow him to knock out the debt by paying monthly installments of 10% of his gross monthly income. The repayment plan won’t start until two months after he leaves prison. Upon his release, he will be under court-ordered supervision for three years.
