LeBron James Calls Nipsey Hussle's Death Extremely Unfortunate – XXL

Nipsey Hussle‘s death has sent a shock wave not only through the hip-hop community but seemingly everyone who had come in contact with the beloved rapper. NBA icon LeBron James recently sat down for an interview about the late Los Angeles rhymer and got emotional while expressing the extreme magnitude of Nipsey’s life being snuffed out.

“It’s another tragedy in the inner city and urban community,” the Los Angeles Lakers forward told CBS2. “It’s just unfortunate. It’s just so unfortunate when you look at a guy who believed in what he believed in, talked about how he wanted to give back to his own community, actually gave back to his community and actually stayed in his community. It’s not many who’ve done that.”

He continued, “To see his life taken away from him by someone in his community that comes from his community, it’s one of the most unfortunate events that’s happened in American history. I just feel for it, being [in L.A.]. Him being a friend of mine as well. You still don’t believe it. I still don’t believe it.”

Nipsey Hussle was shot along with two other people outside his The Marathon Clothing store in the Hyde Park section of L.A. on March 31. The other two victims survived the shooting, which authorities believe started over a personal dispute. The man police believe to be responsible for the crime, Eric Holder, has been apprehended and charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. He pleaded not guilty to the charges on Thursday (April 4) and is being represented by former O.J. Simpson murder case prosecutor Chris Darden. Nipsey will reportedly be laid to rest next week.
