Before the 2019 XXL Freshman class will be revealed this summer, the Freshman hopefuls are here to show and prove why they deserve a spot in this year’s class. The 10th Spot voting will launch on March 25, which means hip-hop’s rising newcomers are vying for a spot on the 2019 XXL Freshman cover.
Similar to the impressive path taken by certified star Cardi B, DreamDoll is making a smooth transition from reality shows to raunchy reality raps. The 27-year-old Bronx native had her first taste of fame as a social media star while bartending at Starlet’s Gentleman’s Club in Queens, N.Y. She parlayed that into a spot on the 16th season of the Oxygen series Bad Girls Club in 2016. The following year she started a rap career dropping the single “Everything Nice” and signing to DJ Self’s Gwinin Entertainment label. The track proved to be a breakout single, earning more than 11 million streams on SoundCloud.
DreamDoll’s debut EP Life in Plastic dropped in September 2017. With her music bubbling, she joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: New York for its eighth season a month later, boosting her visibility even more. Last September, she followed up with the EP Life in Plastic 2, featuring Lil’ Kim, Cupcakke, LouGotCash and others. She proved a force to be reckoned with on the Tory Lanez diss song “On Ya Head” in January. Now, with new material on deck, she’s ready for more life in the limelight.
