R. Kelly's "Girlfriends" Defend Him Against Sexual Abuse Charges – XXL

R. Kelly's "Girlfriends" Defend Him Against Sexual Abuse Charges – XXL

UPDATE: On Wednesday (March 6), Gerald Griggs, who works as an attorney for Joycelyn Savage’s family, told TMZ that R. Kelly is arranging a meeting between Joycelyn and her family.

This meeting would be the first time in two years that Joycelyn has talked to her family in person. The Savages plan for the meeting to take place at a neutral spot outside of Kelly’s hometown of Chicago on either Monday or Tuesday of next week. They are apparently bringing a psychologist to the meeting so that Joycelyn can be evaluated. If you recall, they’ve made it clear that they believe she’s been brainwashed by Kelly and that she’s being held against her will.

Joycelyn had a conference call with her family earlier today, and during the call, Joycelyn assured everyone on the line that she was fine.

You can see what Joycelyn had to say to her family by watching the video below.

ORIGINAL STORY:

R. Kelly‘s first interview since being charged with sexually abusing underage girls premiered on CBS This Morning on Wednesday (March 6) and has become a trending topic on Twitter.

During the embattled singer’s sit-down with host Gayle King, he vehemently denied the allegations. Now the latest preview features R. Kelly’s live-in “girlfriends,” 21-year-old Azriel Clary and 23-year-old Joycelyn Savage.

In the clip, Clary denies their parents’ allegations that they are being held against their will.

“I am crying because you guys don’t know the truth and you guys believe in some fucking facade that our parents are saying for money and if you can’t see that then you’re ignorant and you’re stupid!” Clary shouts at King as Savage rubs Clary’s back.

Clary met R. Kelly at age 17 and convinced her parents, Alice and Angelo, to allow the veteran singer to mentor her. That was four years ago, and since then, Alice and Angelo have not been in contact with their daughter and have claimed that the singer brainwashed her.

Meanwhile, Savage met Kelly when she was 19 years old and has been a staunch supporter of the singer against her own parents Timothy and JonJelyn Savage. The parents have been very vocal about their claim that the singer is holding her against her will.

R. Kelly has denied that he is holding the women captive and even suggested that both of their parents handed their daughters to him. Speaking with King, Kelly explained why he thinks it’s stupid to think that he’d be holding women against their will.

“How stupid would it be for me with my crazy past and what I have been through, right now…I think I need to be a monster and hold women against their will chain them up in my basement, and don’t let them eat don’t let them out unless they need some shoes down the street from their uncle,” Kelly told King.

You can watch a preview of Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary’s interview with Gayle King below. The full interview will air on CBS This Morning on Friday (March 8).
