50 Cent is working on yet another made-for-TV crime drama. This time, the Queens rap mogul will be focusing his efforts on producing a series on New York City’s infamous Sex Money Murder gang and their leader Peter “Pistol Pete” Rollack.
Fif announced the news on Instagram on Saturday (March 2). “Oscar award winning producer @nicolerocklin partners with ya Boy 50 to create the hit Tv show Sex Money Murder ( The Pistol Pete story),” he captioned a photo collage of himself, Rocklin and a book cover. “I get the 💰 bag.”
Sex Money Murder is a Blood sect that originated in the Soundview section of the Bronx around the late 1980s. Headed by Pistol Pete (no relation to Fat Joe’s Terror Squad affiliate), the organization had a short but notoriously brutal run on the streets of NYC, peddling narcotics and violently dealing with rivals. In late 2000, Pete was charged with seven murders and sentenced to life without parole in federal prison.
50 name-dropped Pete on the 2002 track “Fuck You” off his Guess Who’s Back? mixtape where he rapped, “Sex money murder I gotta eat/But I ain’t tryna do hard time like Pistol Pete.”
From the looks of things, the show will also be based on investigative journalist and author Jonathan Green’s book Sex Money Murder: A Story of Crack, Blood and Betrayal, which came out in 2018.
50 continues to add to his legacy as a television producer. Following his hit show Power, he is also putting together a television show based on the rise and fall of Atlanta-based crime organization Black Mafia Family. 50 recently held castings for the upcoming show.
